Which Strap Kit Do I Need?

The 45-Gallon Transfer Flow fuel tank requires a chassis-specific strap kit.
Select the option below that best matches your Ford Transit configuration.

Cutaway Chassis

Ford Transit cutaway chassis vehicles are sold with no factory rear body attached, similar to a cab-and-chassis truck. These platforms typically feature taller frame rails, which require shorter fuel tank straps. This configuration is commonly used for RV builds, shuttle buses, and specialty upfits, including many motorhome conversions.

Passenger/Cargo Chassis

Ford Transit passenger and cargo vans have a fully enclosed rear body from the factory. Passenger vans include windows, while cargo vans do not, but both share a similar chassis configuration with shorter frame rails, requiring longer fuel tank straps. This is the standard setup for most non-cutaway Transit vans.

FAQs

Why are Ford Transit owners upgrading their fuel tanks?

Many Transit owners upgrade their fuel tanks to extend driving range and reduce fuel stops on long trips. This is especially helpful for overland travel, RV use, and remote routes where fuel stations may be limited. A larger tank also makes trip planning easier and provides peace of mind when traveling off-grid.

After installation, the fuel gauge will continue to operate normally. The Distance-to-Empty (DTE) display can be recalibrated to reflect the increased fuel capacity, but the method varies depending on which control module your vehicle is equipped with. Because this can differ by model year and configuration, we recommend contacting us directly for guidance on your specific vehicle.

No. This Transfer Flow tank is designed as a direct replacement for the factory tank and is engineered for durability, proper fuel delivery, and long-term reliability. It is built for heavy-duty use and tested on high-GVWR Transit platforms commonly used for RVs and commercial applications.

The tank is designed to install in the factory midship location. Any change in ground clearance depends on vehicle configuration, suspension setup, and existing modifications. Most owners experience no noticeable change in daily drivability.

If you’re unsure which configuration your Transit or EKKO has, we strongly recommend contacting us before ordering. Our team can help confirm fitment and ensure you select the correct strap kit, preventing delays or incorrect purchases.

Installation difficulty can vary depending on vehicle configuration, chassis type, and experience level. Many experienced DIYers are capable of installing this fuel tank using standard tools and proper safety precautions. However, because this is a fuel system component and vehicle configurations can vary, professional installation by a qualified shop is recommended if you are not comfortable working with underbody components or fuel systems.

GVWR & Compatibility Information

This fuel tank is a very specific fit and was designed and crash tested for large Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) Ford Transit 350 platforms, including small bus and RV-sized applications.

Stock tank requirement: This upgrade requires that the factory fuel tank be 31 gallons. Vehicles equipped with the smaller factory tank use a smaller emissions canister, and the hoses included with this system (along with the additional canister) do not reach the smaller configuration.

DOT certification notice: DOT certification for vehicles rated at 9,999 lbs GVWR and under is not currently available. This certification is in progress and may require additional crash testing. Final confirmation is pending engineering approval.

If you have questions about your vehicle’s GVWR, factory tank size, or overall compatibility, please contact us before ordering to ensure proper fitment.
